Drug Abuse And Idolatry

Drug abuse and idolatry is one of the major problems in our present day society. There are various types of drugs, which can be discussed as follows.

Alcohol

The most common drug that is used and abused is alcohol. Alcohol is nothing but an intoxicant that works in a way to depress the central nervous system. It usually results in a temporary loss of control over physical and mental powers. Lack of coordination, slurred speech, blurred vision, and poor judgment are a few of the things that an alcohol addict faces. In recent years, the debate has raged over whether alcoholism is a sin or a sickness. Well, I guess it is both. The Bible says it is sin while the medical world warns that it is a sort of sickness.

Marijuana

Marijuana is a well-known name in drug abuse and idolatry. It is also known as a gateway drug, not without reason. It is called that because it has the potential to lead young people to experiment with stronger drugs such as heroin and cocaine. It is an intoxicant that is usually taken through smoking to induce a feeling of euphoria. And, this feeling lasts for two to four hours. An increase in heart rate, bloodshot eyes, a dry mouth and throat, and increased appetite are some of the problems that a marijuana addict faces.

Cocaine

When we talk about drug abuse and idolatry, how can we forget cocaine? Cocaine is a stimulant and increases heart rate, restricts blood vessels, and stimulates mental awareness. As per a report, more than 30 million Americans have tried cocaine.
